About
State Representative
Jeff Keicher
Jeff Keicher stands out as the ideal candidate for State Representative for Illinois’ 70th District. Since being sworn in in July 2018, Jeff has leveraged his extensive private sector experience and deep-rooted community involvement to become a respected leader in Springfield. His reputation as a problem-solver underscores his commitment to effective governance.
From the onset of his tenure, Representative Keicher has achieved significant legislative successes that resonate across party lines. His dedication to public health led to the passage of a 2019 law broadening mammogram screening availability. His vision for economic growth was instrumental in enacting reforms that generated thousands of well-paying local jobs, including the establishment of the Ferrara distribution center and Facebook data center in DeKalb. His legislative prowess continued with the passage of three crucial laws in 2021 aimed at protecting victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, maintaining the operational status of the Byron nuclear plant, and supporting Northern Illinois University.
Jeff’s personal experiences have fueled his passion for ensuring justice for survivors and economic opportunity for Illinoisans to succeed and grow. Witnessing his cousin’s struggles with sexual abuse and substance addiction inspired Jeff to take a stand. He played a pivotal role on the Make Sexual Abuse Fully Extinct (Make S.A.F.E.) Task Force, whose recommendations have significantly enhanced student protection laws in Illinois. In 2023 he passed into law a pathway for survivors of human trafficking to clear their forced criminal activities and move on with their life. Again in 2024 he expanded the law to cover juveniles as well. As a standing member of the Commission on Poverty Elimination and Economic Security, he is actively working towards a 15-year plan to eradicate poverty, reflecting his lifelong commitment to addressing economic disparities. The sooner we all have a chance to succeed and grow, the better this state will quickly become.
In 2022, Representative Keicher championed legislation that extended support for sexual assault survivors, bolstered local government efficiency, protected restaurant owners from bad-faith delivery services, and safeguarded nursing home visitation rights during health crises. His unwavering dedication to restoring public trust led to his appointment to the Legislative Ethics Commission, where he tirelessly advocates for robust ethics reforms.
During the 2023 & 2024 sessions Representative Keicher passed unanimously sweeping legislation addressing the roadside waste that has for too long been allowed to blow out of waste hauler trailers and litter our roadways. He also took up, at the suggestion of his constituents, the unfair practice of the Illinois Secretary of State of behind the wheel drivers tests once you hit certain birthdays. The practice is unfair and discriminatory when in reality those that have tickets, accidents and physical or mental conditions that affect the safe operation of a vehicle should be the target. Unfortunately, despite broad bipartisan support, this legislation is being held by others from progressing.
Jeff’s deep-seated belief in listening and understanding before acting makes him a standout leader. His extensive volunteer work, including executive roles with the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, Sycamore Public Library, NAIFA Illinois, and Sycamore Rotary Club, showcases his lifelong dedication to community service. He has been the Republican House point person on reforming Illinois BIPA statute that is preventing many high-tech companies from coming to Illinois. He’s also worked extensively on incentives for jobs of the future to consider Illinois. It’s not easy with our over regulation but if we don’t expand our appeal to job creators we will quickly spiral.
Jeff’s work with law enforcement and holding off freedom infringing new laws has been recognized as one of the most effective tools at holding off truly bad legislative ideas. His work on giving voice to victims of violence a seat at the table has paid dividends despite the negative impacts of the SAFE-T Act that he voted against in 2021. Additionally, his work at protecting constitutional rights like freedom of speech, freedom of religion and right to bear arms has been lauded by supporters.
A proud alumnus of Northern Illinois University with over 25 years in the insurance industry, Jeff’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through his successful State Farm Insurance Agency in Sycamore, which has been serving DeKalb County and northern Illinois since 2006.
Jeff Keicher’s deep family roots in the community and his life lessons from a hardworking upbringing offer him unique insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Illinois residents. As a small business owner and committed family man, Jeff is devoted to enhancing the quality of life for local families and making Illinois a prime destination for living, working, and retiring with dignity and financial security.
In Jeff Keicher, the 70th District has a representative who not only understands the needs of his constituents but also has the proven ability to deliver results. His comprehensive approach to governance, rooted in compassion and pragmatism, makes him the best choice for state representative.
